What is Easy Read?

“Easy Read is important. We need the words and the pictures – they can tell us a lot of things. It means I don’t miss out on anything, I can understand and I’m included”.

- Robert Strike, CID member

With 44% of Australian adults (7.3 million) having low level literacy skills (ABS, 2013), Easy Read versions of your important documents are beneficial for a significant portion of society, including people with disability, older audiences, people with English as a second language, people with low literacy levels, and even people who are time poor.

Easy Read is the use of short simple sentences in everyday language matched with images or symbols, to ensure clear understanding for everyone. We create or translate everything from website content to surveys, promotional materials to workbooks. We also offer training in how to apply Easy Read techniques.
